Everyone has heard of a domain name, but what is it?
A domain name is a way of routing a user via a browser to a specific website. All websites are located in some type of hosting environment. These hosting environments are given IP addresses by internet providers so that computers can communicate efficiently back and forth. However, for a human remembering, a number such a 154.324.325.1 would be impossible considering how many websites there are these days. Could you imagine trying to do a search on Google and instead of typing in “google.com” you would have to type 32.32.65.21?
